Dwight Tibbetts

Trumpeter Dwight Tibbetts received an Associate of Science degree in Popular Music from the University of Augusta Maine. He also received a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Southern Maine. He has his Masters in Music Conducting from the American Band College in Ashland, Oregon. He was a recipient of the Willie Maiden Award for excellence in composition and arranging. Dwight taught instrumental music in grades five through twelve for thirty-two years in Augusta, Maine. He has performed throughout New England with the Manchester Brass Quintet and the Downeast Brass Quintet. Dwight has studied with Chuck Winfield (formerly of Blood, Sweat and Tears), John Foss, and Dr. Tim Weir (lead player from the University of Miami). He has been coached by members of the Canadian Brass, Fred Shautter (principal trumpeter of the Oregon Symphony), and famed trumpet virtuoso Allen Vizzutti. Also an accomplished pianist, Dwight arranges much of the music performed by the Coastal Brass and Downeast Brass.

Over the years, Dwight has performed in many orchestra pits in Maine and Florida. Recently, he retired from teaching and spends his winters in Melbourne performing with the Central Florida Winds, the Swingtime Orchestra, the Melbourne Community Band, the Sunshine Brass Quintet, and the Coastal Brass Quintet. He has also been hired to play for the Norwegian Cruise Lines.
